Delightfully witty and intelligent, Steve Cain is a retired investigative reporter who dabbles in stonework, woodwork, and stained glass artistry. A father of seven and grandfather of four (with two more on the way this summer), you would think he'd have his hands full enough as it is, but luckily he had a spare moment or two to get into jewelry artistry. What originally began as designing (with the help of his wife) and fabricating necklaces, bracelets, and earrings for his wife and daughters soon evolved into designing for friends, friends of friends and so on, until he found himself participating in 12-15 craft shows a year as well as creating works for a shop on Etsy!
Last December Steve came up with what I consider to be one of the most original and creative ideas I've come across in quite some time... The Morse Code Necklace. Using semi-precious stones and crystals, he spells out sassy, subversive, clever or romantic quotes. The resulting designs have a lovely semi-random feel, and the messages are yours to divulge... or not. How clever! I know you're dying to see some of them yourself, so here ya go!
Eleanor Roosevelt Said...
"Beautiful young people are an accident of nature. Beautiful old people are works of art."
Beauty and love in stone and crystal code
"Love is the great beautifier"
(adapted from a quote by Louisa May Alcott)
Nature's way of saying lets party
"Spring: Nature's way of saying let's party"
How fun and clever is that?! Wish you had come up with it yourself? I do too. Too bad it's protected by copyright, so please respect this artist's original ideas!
Steve also offers other conventional necklaces, bracelets, earrings and sets, so stop by Sandy Mush Artworks today and check them out! Tell him I sent you, and I've decided to go with the John Wayne/Seargent Stryker quote while you're there!
